This past year, my small group of high school gals have been raising money to build a house in Guatemala. Two of those girls are here in Guatemala, and today we got to build that house. I have to admit... seeing Emily & Mikaela with the drill kinda frightened me. Forget kinda. I was terrified. But they single handedly (double handedly???) managed to get all the walls together...here is hoping and praying it is still standing tomorrow.
We were invited in to the family's home. There are 9 (of her 14 live children) living there. Until today, they had 3 double beds in one room, and a fourth in another. Their home was made of tin and sticks. Some of the walls were made of only tarp. When we shared with the family that the funds for the house came from the work that these girls had done, the flood gates of tears opened. I stood back and watched as one of the adult children fell in to Mikaelas arms and sobbed. I have said it before, and I will say it again... I am sure I have never met a more grateful person, than the person here in Guatemala who has just received a 16 by 20 foot house.
After building it, we blessed the home. Mikaela shared Scripture, and Emily presented the family with a Bible. We provided the family with two sets of bunkbeds and bedding. It was a reminder of all the things that I have that I take for granted.
I have to admit...I felt a sense of pride watching Emily& Mikaela finish this project that they have been so committed to this year. Good on you girls. You made God and our Guats Up Girls proud. (and me too)

"Not called!'" did you say? "Not heard the call," I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.
Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.
Then look Christ in the face ~whose mercy you have professed to obey ~ and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.
