Today was a free day for us... meaning, we had time to explore Antigua Guatemala. So that meant... SHOPPING!!! I love the colours and flavor of the Artisan Market. I will attach some pictures, but really, they don't do it justice. I was even brave enough to go to the "crazy market"... which is really the local market where you can buys fruit and cheap knock-offs. OMW. I was scared. There was a whole lot of yelling, and I got hit by a car. (Well... the car mirror hit my bag.) The most shocking part? Those of you who know me, know that my sense of direction is pretty much non-existent. But I can actually make my way from our B&B to the Market! (You turn right at the orange sponge painted house, then left at the church with the funny trees.)
We are now sitting on the balcony sharing stories, getting to know each other, and laughing... in fact, the last few people to arrive back from the market can hear our laughing all the way down the street. Gotta love open (outside) concept living! Beautiful breeze, chirping birds, and so many flowers, plants and colours.
This evening we will prepare for our work that starts tomorrow. We will start the day hosting a church service in Pampay, and will then spend some time giving gifts to the sponsor children in Pampay. Can't wait to see Ana (Mike, Sandra, Julia and Emily Mulder's sponsor child) and Marvin (Terry, Carla, Grace and Noah Bellamy's sponsor child), and present gifts, letters and pictures to them... such a special time.
