One of the highlights of our trip is getting to hand out gifts to children from their sponsors back home in Ottawa. It is even more special when you have a personal link to the childs sponsor back home. Today I got to be a part of that... giving one of my best friends sponsored child their gift.
.
When I first caught Marvins eye this morning, he recognized me, and recognized that the bag I was carrying in my hands was for him. His face lit up. When the time came, he carefully removed each precious item from his bag. The expressions on his face are worth a million words. He savored each and every gift. Have you ever seen a child's face light up when he receives socks as a gift? Marvin's did. You would think it was a piece of gold! I wish that everyone had the opportunity to experience that.... there are no words to describe it.
.
Imagine how different our world would be if we were all a little more like Marvin... if we all savored each blessing the way he does.
.
Lord, help me to see the beauty in all the little things. I have so much. Help me to never lose sight of that. Amen.

"Not called!'" did you say? "Not heard the call," I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.
Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.
Then look Christ in the face ~whose mercy you have professed to obey ~ and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.
