I guess somewhere in here I should mention where I am going and what I am doing. On July 18th, I will be heading to Guatemala with a team from the Metropolitan Bible Church. We will be traveling to the small, poverty stricken village of Pampay, Guatemala, which is approximately 90 minutes from Guatemala City.
The purpose of our trip is two-fold. Part of our team will be ministering to the local children by running a Vacation Bible School. A new addition to the "Met Team" is the Medical Team, which is where I will be serving. Our plans are not as firm as the VBS plans are as of yet. What we do know is that we will be working along side a physician (who is in the Village once a week), and a nurse to assess and meet the medical needs of the children in the small community. Our vision now includes home visits, first aid stations, and perhaps an educational component. (All of which is right up my alley!)
I have seen a lot in my career... a lot of which I wish I could forget! But I am sure that nothing that I have seen here will compare to what I am about to see in Pampay.

"Not called!'" did you say? "Not heard the call," I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.
Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.
Then look Christ in the face ~whose mercy you have professed to obey ~ and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.
