"Not called!'" did you say? "Not heard the call," I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.

Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.

Then look Christ in the face ~whose mercy you have professed to obey ~ and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.

~where I first saw the light

There is a cross that over looks Antigua. The site is pretty amazing. It is something that you cannot fully capture in a picture. The back drop of the already amazing view is a volcano. Standing at the foot of the cross, particularly being just a few weeks out from celebrating Easter, reminded me of why we are here in Guatemala... to spread the good news that we can come to the foot of the cross as broken people in need of grace. And we can leave the cross forgiven and renewed. We can trade our ashes for beauty. We can lay down our burdens for freedom. I was reminded of just how powerful the cross is... and I am overwhelmed and amazed.

"At the cross where I first saw the light, and the burdens of my heart rolled away."
