"Not called!'" did you say? "Not heard the call," I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.

Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.

Then look Christ in the face ~whose mercy you have professed to obey ~ and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world.

~dirt floors~

While preparing some of the teaching I will doing while in Pompay, I had questions about the sleeping conditions of the people we were going to be working with. I sent a quick email off to our team leader asking if they had make shift cribs or anything like that. Her response, while perhaps it should not have, shocked me.

"They sleep on dirt floors, or blankets on dirt floors."

While over the past few weeks I have tried to prepare myself mentally, emotionally and spiritually for this upcoming trip, I fear that I have no idea what I am in for. There is nothing that can fully prepare me for the experiences that we will have. There is nothing that can fully prepare my heart for the conditions some people live in. I fear that my heart will be completely broken. Perhaps that is a good thing. One thing I know for certain: I will never be the same.
